The Algae Home Page

    Algae comes in many forms.  Sometimes floating, sometimes growing on the walls and floor of the pool.  It also comes in a variety of colors.  Click on any of the links below to see more information.  ***This is just an extra information tool.  Please call us with your questions or bring in a water sample for testing.  We are here to help you.***

Green Algae -  green water, floating algae, green algae growing on the sides or bottom

Black Algae - black growth (or spots) on the walls or floor, usually really hard (if not seemingly impossible) to get off

Mustard Algae - looks like dust on the bottom of the pool, when you vacuum it returns within hours - sometimes brushes off easily, other times it can cling to the bottom and sides - it can be present even in pools with a good chlorine reading

Pink Growth - looks like a pink colored algae growing on the sides, in the skimmer, on the bottom of ladders, around jet faceplates, etc.

White Growth - looks like tissue paper floating on top of the water, sometimes dissolves when you try to pick it up, could cause the water to be cloudy
